The Rev. Dr. Donald K. Gillett II
The Rev. Dr. Donald K. Gillett II has been the Senior Pastor at East Second Street Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) since July 1999. Prior to his call to ESSCC, he served as a Youth Minister and Associate Minister at Park Manor Christian Church in Chicago from 1994 to 1999.
He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, TX; a Master of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, IL; a Master of Business Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion, IN and an earned Doctorate of Ministry Degree from Lexington Theological Seminary, Lexington, KY.
The Rev. Dr. Gillett II currently serves as the chair of the UMCS Board and co-chair of B.U.I.L.D. an organization dedicated to building a speaking for and with those under served and under represented in the community. He is the Vice-President/President Elect for the National Convocation Board of Directors for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He serves on the Lansdowne Elementary and Southern Middle Schools Site Based Councils (SBDM). He is the former board chair for the Division of Overseas Ministries Board of Directors of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and Co-Chair of Global Ministries of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ and the United Church of Christ. He is a former Moderator of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in KY and former President of the Kentucky Christian Missionary Convention. He has served on numerous boards including the Board of the Kentucky Council of Churches.
The Rev. Dr. Gillett II has four children, Jeremy, Liyah, Tasia, and Donald, III (Trey) and one grandchild Jayda. He is married to Dr. Charisse L. Gillett, President of the Lexington Theological Seminary.
He enjoys working with his hands, traveling, bowling, golfing and spending time with family and friends.
Ms. Karen Owsley
Office Manager and Event Coordinator
Karen Owsley comes to the Council with administrative experience at the Lexington Herald-Leader and the University of Kentucky, as well as a family business. She works out of the Council's office located at 1125 Red Mile Road in Lexington.
She has three children, Tyler, Savanna and Isaiah.
